Coincidence or Superstitions?
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
I was resting on the sofa when the headlines of ‘wan bao’ caught my attention.
The title sent chills down my spine.
At the Olympics, where millions witnessed the closing ceremony just last Sunday, China came in first on the medal tally, overtaking USA for the first time, with a remarkable performance of 51Gold, 21Silver and 28Bronze.
512128
These numbers were seen to coincide with the The SiChuan Earthquake which occurred on 12th May at 1:28 (if written in chinese, 五月十二日, 一点二十八分), killing nearly 70 thousand lives and left 4.8 million homeless.
Back in May, not long after the natural disaster, I recalled receiving a sms from a friend. It happened that the day when the earthquake occured was exactly 88 days from the Beijing Olympics, scheduled to be held on the 8th of August 2008 at 8:08.
So are theses juz pure concidence? or juz we chinese being too overly superstitious?
it feel as if someone had casted a spell, purposely let the so call auspicious 8 kept appearing in our lives (not for a good cause), gt us belive that its not juz pure coincidence. whatever it is, i tot this is kinda spooky.
Despite all the wild guesses made, one thing i'm pretty sure is that whoever came up with all these sure have too much time to spare.
